<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">it's one thing to play "the same show" every night on one tour because it actually becomes something like a job once you have more than 12 nights in a row with the odd day off, but using nearly exactly the same announcements over years makes we wonder if they think the audience isn't listening.

this makes me consider them not to be a true blue punkrock band anymore but basically professional musicians, call the sound what you like.
but then again, there's nothing wrong with that in my book. the attitude may be somewhat washed down, but social d. for me is still one of the bands with the strongest spirit, if you get what i mean.

their shows are super tight.. so there is no room for complaints there. they sound great..

but to those who chose to see them more than once in the same year(s) are subject to the same ole lines and set list.. great if your a newbie or a one timer but mundane to the regulars.

the show where they played MLM all the way through shows some hope.

i just dont know why they wont explore their catalog more, there are so many good songs.. hell mix in a few new covers.. is it just pure laziness where they wont because they are afraid of not sounding tight.. its live we dont care give us your latest bedroom jam...

you just dont have to open every show with reach for the sky followed by highway 101.. and end em with ring of fire or story of my life.

Well keep in mind that every time they go on tour the need to rehear the setlist and when he changes in up they have to practice and I think its more of a "I play what I like to play" thing rather then "I play what you like to hear" sort of thing, because everyone in the audiance wants to hear a diffrect song, just because I want to hear "on my nerves" or "through these eyes" which they have never played live, doesn't meen the KROQ kid next to me wants to hear it.

Yo Big Ballz- Social D. is a lot more than just a punk rock band. This discussion has been made several times before in the past. It is not 1983 anymore... Mike Ness and the rest of the band consider themselves a rock and roll band and that is it!!! Their influneces are more blues, rockabilly, and vintage country behind a punk style of playing. (Like no one here knows ths already) Calling them simply a punk rock band is a put down!!!!

In no way am putting them down, Mike Ness is the reason why I picked up a guitar 10 years ago and is still the driving force of my playing. I guess there more in the Rev HH and Stray Sats catagory then a punk band, I get your point... I FUCKING LOVE BRIAN SETZER, thats a dude you want to jam with!!!!

I would like the same deal as Wolfpits, but I would rather get to the level that Mike has gotten to, then maybe invite one of my fans up on stage. Fame is a horrible mistress, just think of all the every day mistakes you make in your life, and how at the end of the day it is not a big deal. I think that Mike would much rather be known for all the music he has created, than for all the drugs and every little thing he has done on his way up the fame ladder. To this day whenever somone interviews Ness, they always bring up the drugs and fights and all the other shit. It's the price you pay. I think it is enough to whenever possible hang out and greet fans, give autographs and pics. Some bands/singers/famous people won't even do that. I have a personalized Keith Richards autograph on my pickguard next to Mike Ness's autograph, I love it, but I like Mike's better, because I was able to chat with him, I never got that chance with Keith, I received the autograph second hand. Live your life like you are famous, within your means, and just enjoy what little time you have on this god forsaken rock!

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">that's the point, in order to satisfy everybody's likes in the audience they'd have to play like 3 hours. and that's something they don't do, 75 minutes, what you see is what you get. and changing the setlist more often or adding new covers means time in the reharsal room which they simply don't get paid for.
i can imagine they also look at it from a "never change a running system" point of vew as long as the shows sell out. and success proves them right, they are more popular than ever these days.
